The specialty chemicals company LANXESS has defined itself the target to become 100% climate-neutral by 2040. This means a reduction of 3,2 million metric tons of CO2 equivalence the company emits today. The defined interim goal is to cut emissions by 50% compared to the current level by 2030. The first projects in Belgium and India have already started.
With this decision, LANXESS actively supports the goal of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to less than two degrees. They see all companies in the responsibility to work on a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and introduced three processes to fulfill their goal of climate neutrality: the launch of major impact projects for climate protection, decoupling of emissions and growth as well as technological and process innovations.
